THE WIZ! Jr. Young Actors Summer Conservatory’s production is THIS WEEKEND ONLY!
Please join The Black Repertory Theatre of Kansas City for our one-night-only 2021 Young Actors Summer Conservatory production ofThe Wiz! Jr. this Saturday! The first show begins at 5:30 pm and the second show begins at 7:30 pm. Both shows are at The Gem Theater in the historic 18th and Vine District. Arrive early to explore the area or plan to stay late to experience some world-famous Kansas City jazz music at The Blue Room.
During this 3-week intensive, nearly 30 students have engaged with professional instructors in Drama, Music, Dance, Stagecraft and African American Theatre history. We are proud to have offered this summer’s YASC program ENTIRELY FREE.
YASC is BRTKC’s biggest fundraiser of the year and tickets are now on sale for just $10 each! The live performance ofThe Wiz! Jr. doubles as our annual Gala. Please note that tickets must be purchased online. No tickets will be sold at the theater. Dorothy and her friends can’t wait to see you!
YASC began in 2019 with our hit productionSarafina! That year, 10 lucky students got their opportunity to shine onstage in front of an admiring crowd. But this year, we’ve gone three times bigger – and made tuition completely free – and we need your help! Sponsor the program with a tax-deductible donation via PayPal or check. You’ll receive program and onstage recognition, as well as a personalized thank you letter from the students.
Be on the lookout – you’ll be able to buy your 2021/22 season tickets soon! We are excited to announce that next season will be entirely IN-PERSON. Keep an eye on the link below to be the first with tickets!
Of course, this year’s Gala will look a little different in light of the ongoing pandemic. Our top priority at BRTKC is keeping our artists, staff, and patrons safe and we need your help to do just that. We have implemented strict safety procedures, which you can view below. Masks are optional for vaccinated people and mandatory for non-vaccinated people. We ask that if you feel sick, please stay home.
