TYA continues ‘Click, Clack, Moo’ continues at Union Station.

Kansas City, MO (October 24th, 2016) Click, Clack, Moo: Cows That Type opens Theatre for Young America’s 2016-17 season.  The show runs from October 15th through November 4th, 2016, at the Extreme Screen Theatre at Union Station.

This extremely popular book for young people by Doreen Cronin has been adapted into a lively musical comedy by James E. Grote with original music by Shole Milos. It tells the hilarious story of disgruntled farm animals—2 cows, a hen, and a duck—who desperately want to improve their accommodations.  They want to complain to Farmer Brown but he doesn’t speak Cow, Hen or Duck.  Farmer Brown stores some books and a typewriter in the barn, and one of the cows gets the idea that they will type their complaints to the farmer.  After honing their English language and typing skills by reading books by Karl Marx, Malcolm X and George Orwell, the animals proclaim ‘Power to the animals!’ and take over the farm.
The Extreme Screen Theatre is being completely refitted to accommodate this musical theater production, including additional lighting and sound equipment.  The show will use a portion of the movie screen to project background images, along with 3 dimensional scenic elements, to create the setting of the play.  This will be the first full-scale live production in Extreme Screen, which has been remodeled with an expanded stage floor space.
Theatre for Young America is only doing this one production at Extreme Screen Theater and then for the rest of the 2016-17 will return to its regular home in the H&R Block City Stage.  Both theaters are located on Level B of Union Station, adjacent to each other. The temporary move is to allow Egads! Productions to present a special showing of Evil Dead in the City Stage for Halloween.
Click, Clack, Moo Cows That Type is directed by Theatre for Young America’s Artistic Director, Valerie Mackey. Musical Direction is by Tim Braselton, Choreography by Evan Lovelace, and Stage Management by Alexandra Pilley. Technical and Set Design is by Eric Van Horn, Light Design by Kylor Greene, Costume and Properties Design by Sheryl Bryant and Projection Design by Kris Kirkwood.
