TYA classes open for enrollment

 TYA’S WINTER- SPRING ACTING CLASSES ARE APPROACHING

 Theatre for Young America’s Spring Acting classes for ages 3 ½ to 18 years old are starting soon! The classes begin Tuesday, January 22, 2019, at Wonderscope Children’s Museum of Kansas City in Shawnee, Kansas.  Classes begin Saturday, January 26, 2019, at Avila University’s Goppert Theatre in Kansas City, Missouri.  Theatre for Young America offers classes for all ages it serves at both the host locations.

 Theatre for Young America, now in its 45th year, is the oldest theatre in the Kansas City area that has continuously provided quality theatre arts training for young people.  Since 1974 Theatre for Young America’s classes have enriched the lives of young people by emphasizing vocal and body skills, exercising their imagination and creativity, and helping them learn cooperation and collaboration. In this semester the students prepare for THE WHOLE SHEBANG, Theatre for Young America’s end of the year performance festival.  All students perform, and the admission is free.

 Students may try a class before they enroll to see if the class is a good fit for them.  The full schedule is on the website at www.tya.org.   The class for the youngest students 3 ½ to 5 years old is called Pretend Players.  For 1st-3rd graders the class is Adventures in Acting.  Acting Workshop is offered for 4th-6th graders.  The oldest students participate in Teen Acting Conservatory.  Spring students 9 and older are eligible to audition for A Wrinkle in Time, a main stage show running at City Stage in Union Station in June and July, 2019.

 The tuition for the semester is $130.  There is a 10% discount for season ticket holders or for families with two or more students enrolled in class during the same term.  The discounted tuition is $117 for the semester.
