Free Job Fair to Assist Service Members, Veterans and Military Family with Job Placement
Over 135 area companies will be in attendance at the Overland Park Convention Center to assist those with military background and their family members with job placement
Overland Park, Kan.– Service members, veterans and military family members are invited to attend a the 2ndAnnual Kansas City Veteran Career and Transition Fair at the Overland Park Convention Center on Tuesday, Jan. 29. The opening ceremony starts at 10:30 am and the job and transition fair runs from 11 am to 3 pm—entry is FREE.
Over 135 area companies will be in attendance to assist those with a military background and their family members with job placement. Activities will include free professional portraits and two discussion panels—one featuring a human resource experts and hiring managers and the other featuring veterans that have successfully transitioned from the service into second careers. Both panels offer advice and tips on resume, job search, social media, interviewing preparation and techniques. Participants will also have the opportunity to network with other veterans and transitioning service members from the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard.
Sponsors of the Greater Kansas City Area Veteran Career and Transition Fair include The Fort Leavenworth Soldier for Life Transition Assistance Program, Grantham University, Andy Darling and Goodman & Gravely Insurance, Lone Light Analytics, Matt Maciel Financial, Overland Park Convention Center and Uniformed Services Benefit Association.
Proceeds from the event will be donated to veteran-related organizations like Veterans Community Project (VCP), the VFW, the American Legion, American Fallen Warriors and Friends in Service of Heroes.
