The Penguin Project is bringing Disney’s The Aristocats KIDS to the Theatre Lawrence stage August 13-15. Based on the beloved Disney animated film, and featuring a jazzy, upbeat score, Disney’s The Aristocats KIDS is a non-stop thrill ride of feline fun, complete with unbelievable twists and turns.
The Penguin Project is a musical theatre production that casts youth aged 10-21 with disabilities in all roles. Each Youth Artist is partnered with on-stage Peer Mentors of a similar age and interests. This year 50 young people are participating in the program. This is the second production that the Penguins will be performing at Theatre Lawrence after having to take a year off due to COVID-19.
Although they were unable to meet in person during the pandemic, the Artists met with each other every Friday via ZOOM to stay in touch and keep the spirit of performance alive, often including their signature theme song, “Don’t Stop Believin’.”
This production will be performed INSIDE the Theatre Lawrence auditorium. For the safety of everyone involved, including the Artists, seating will be sold at half-capacity and MASKS WILL BE REQUIRED!
