The June 5 Semifinals will take place in the White Theatre at The J, 5801 W. 115th St., in Overland Park. The public is invited to attend free of charge and cheer on their favorites. Those planning to come to the Semifinals are asked to bring a canned good to donate to Jewish Family Services Community Food Pantry that serves those facing hunger issues, regardless of faith or cultural background.

At the June 5 Semifinals, the singers will perform live with judges selecting 10 finalists who will go on to compete in the KC SuperStar finals on Sunday, Aug. 27 at Yardley Hall of Johnson County Community College. Area radio and television producer, Rich Linden, will serve as the host for the Semifinals. Linden is known as the voice of both Park University and the University of Missouri-Kansas City athletics.

At this year’s KC SuperStar finals Tony Award Nominee Megan Hilty, known for her amazing singing talents on the Broadway stage, film and the critically acclaimed television series “SMASH,” will serve as host. Hilty made her Broadway debut as Glinda in the musical “Wicked” opposite Tony Award winner Idina Menzel. After a year on Broadway, Hilty continued with “Wicked” on tour and in the 2007-2009 Los Angeles production.

In addition to the $10,000 scholarship, other KC SuperStar finalists will be awarded scholarships for second place – $5,000; Third Place-$2,500; and Fourth Place-$1,000.
