Usher in the Halloween season in a dazzling mix of sequins and fishnet stockings with this outrageous celebration of sex, drag, rock’n’roll, and being who you really are. The Rocky Horror Show is one of the most popular traditions at Theatre Lawrence, and we are excited to bring it back this year. The Rocky Horror Show will run live on stage on Friday, October 18th and Saturday, October 19th.
In the campy, audaciously sexy story, naïve sweethearts Brad (Michael Ostermann) and Janet (reprised by Noelle Olson) get a flat tire during the proverbial dark-and-stormy night. They seek shelter at the eerie mansion of Dr. Frank-N-Furter (reprised by Michael Dieker), a “sweet transvestite from transsexual Transylvania.” As their innocence is lost, Brad and Janet meet a houseful of wild characters. Through elaborate dances and rock songs, Frank-N-Furter unveils his latest scientific creation: a muscular man named “Rocky” (Francsico Camargo).
What started as a stage musical and humorous tribute to the most stereotypical science fiction and horror movies in 1973 became the cult classic film starring Tim Curry, Susan Sarandon and Meat Loaf in 1975.
“Let’s do the Time Warp again!”  Rocky is also the quintessential audience participation show, and Theatre Lawrence will have what have come to be known as ‘survival kits’ available for audience members. Due to the nature of the show it is not recommended for those under 16.
The cast includes: Maggie Barratt, Mario Bonilla, Caleb Cornish, Amber Dickinson, Andy Gaidry, Frankie Haynes, Abby Ilardi, Natalie Jensen, Andrew Ramaley, Skye Reid, Jakob Reitz, Annie Sauerburger, and Melia Stockham
Direction for the show is by Doug Weaver, Music Direction by Susan Hash-Hires, Set Design by James Diemer, Lighting Design by Danny Rogovein,
Sound Design by Bob Newton, Costume Design by Jane Pennington and
Stage Management by Cheyenne Queen.
An exhibit featuring the work of Jennifer Joie Webster and Walt Hull will be on display in the Oldfather Lobby.
