Quality Hill Playhouse announces plan

posted by Bob Evans

Many of you have asked when we, Quality Hill Playhouse, will reopen. Believe us when we say we wish we had an answer. Given the current state of the coronavirus pandemic, no one can predict when live music and theatre will return to Kansas City. In addition to safety concerns for our audiences and staff, singing is a “super-spreader” activity, making it is unsafe for performers to share our intimate stage for the foreseeable future.

While we don’t know when performances will resume, we can answer some questions.

· What happens to my tickets for the canceled shows this past spring?

We haven’t canceled those shows. We’re just in “intermission”. Once it is safe to resume operations, we will remount BROADWAY THROUGH THE DECADES (our show that was interrupted this past March), then present SONGS FROM THE SILVER SCREEN followed by KANSAS CITY HERE I COME, the remaining shows in our 2019-2020 Season. Once we have a schedule for these shows, we will notify you of your new dates.

· What happens to my season tickets for the 2020-2021 Season?

We will produce the six shows announced for our 2020-2021 Season after we produce the three shows referenced above. Once we have a schedule for these shows, we will notify you of your new dates.

· Can you do shows online?

We ARE! We are offering short, FREE, virtual cabarets online. “Tonight At The Q” is hosted by Kent from our lobby, and each webisode features one guest soloist – socially distanced, of course. Visit us on Facebook to watch!
You do not need a Facebook account to view our content. Simply click HERE or use this URL www.facebook.com/TheQHP

· Will Kent be performing his one-man show?

Not in July, but we will reschedule as soon as we can. If you have tickets for this performance, you will be notified of the new dates as soon as they are available.

· How can I help?

Although there isn’t a show running now, we are still paying our staff, utilities, insurance, etc. so that we can resume operations when it is safe. As a non-profit organization, we depend on the generosity of donors and grantors. Please consider joining our monthly giving campaign to help us weather this difficult time. Click HERE to donate.

Although we cannot predict when we will reopen, there is a good chance it will not be safe to do so until spring 2021. That seems like a long way away, and it is, but we must do what it takes to keep everyone safe and overcome this virus. Thank you for your patience.

This moment is simply a rest in the music, an unexpected silence. Until the music can continue and we can be together once again, take care and be safe.

Your friends,
