From the earthly bowels of Edvard Grieg’s In the Hall of the Mountain King to gentle droplets of “Singin’ in the Rain,” MAFB explores the power inherent to the classical elements through a diverse collection of pieces. Also included on the program is Australian composer Jodie Blackshaw’s Into the Sun that calls for homemade percussion instruments; a medley of John Williams tunes, Fantasy of Flight; Georges Bizet’s operatic classic Pearl Fishers; and Francis McBeth’s epic Sea-Treaders, as well as world premieres of works by Andrew Hamilton and Jason Gerraughty.
