‘Matilda’ opens at Theatre Lawrence

Theatre Lawrence is thrilled to present the international award winning,
Matilda: The Musical, as our holiday production opening December 6th and running through December 22nd.
Inspired by the classic book by Roald Dahl, our hero is born to parents who disdain books, learning, and any information they can’t get from television, Still, Matilda (Juliana Allen and Viviana Riffel share this role) somehow manages to emerge as a young girl with astonishing wit, intelligence, and psychokinetic powers.
Matilda’s school life isn’t completely smooth sailing either- the school’s mean headmistress, Miss Trunchbull (Andrew Ramaley), hates children and just loves thinking up new punishments for those who don’t abide by her rules. But Matilda has the courage and cleverness to help her teacher, her fellow students and even herself find happiness.
Matilda revels in the anarchy of childhood, the power of imagination, and the inspiring story of a girl who dreams of a better life. Full of astoundingly witty songs and exciting dance numbers, Matilda will captivate audiences with the story of a courageous little girl who has an extraordinary personality. Above all it’s an exhilarating tale of empowerment to inspire the entire family!
