I am writing to let you know that we have decided to cancel the 2020 Kansas City Fringe Festival for the first time in our 16-year history. We do this with great regret, but know that you will understand and support this decision. In the short-term, we will offer a range of virtual Fringe Festival offerings in July. I am also writing to ask your help to keep Fringe strong and ready to return in full strength in 2021.
After much conversation and the exploration of countless possible scenarios, the staff and board of directors have decided that an in-person event is not in our Fringe familys’ best interest. The safety of our artists, staff, volunteers and audience is our top priority as we navigate this difficult time. We have a social responsibility to support social distancing.
We are taking this opportunity to try something new, and are working to give you digital options during our regularly scheduled Festival dates. Keep watching and we’ll keep you updated.
Like so many others throughout our community, nation, and world, we need your help to survive. All Fringe staff have been laid off as part of our measures to establish financial stability. Your support will help get us to the other side of this pandemic and bring our staff back to work. Please consider making a donation so that your Fringe continues to exist for the artists, the audiences and the community. To make a contribution, you can click the DONATE button below or mail a check to:
KC Fringe Festival / PO Box 415001 / Kansas City, MO 64141-5001
We are already moved by the generosity of our artists and supporters and we are hopeful that we will all get through this together.
Wishing you all health and peace,
P.S. You may be eligible for a tax deduction of up to $300, in addition to the standard deduction, under the new CARES Act! Please check with your tax advisor for how this applies to you.
