Sophie and her sisters are Homesteaders in 1880s western Kansas. Owning land and making a home just 20 years away from slavery in the south. Land is everything. Together they are building a strong Black community, but Frank, husband to the youngest, has his own ideas about how to use their assets. With resilience and courage, the sisters determine their destiny. At turns funny, dramatic, poetic and strong, Flyin’ West opens the window on this rarely told story of sisterhood, love, and strength.
