Young Actors Summer Conservatory Now Enrolling!

The Black Repertory Theatre of Kansas City is proud to announce our 2021 Young Actors Summer Conservatory. Applications now open!

During this 4-week intensive, students will engage with professional instructors in Drama, Music, Dance, Stagecraft and African American Theatre history.

This year’s Summer Conservatory will culminate in a production of the musical THE WIZ!  featuring the student acting company.

Enrollment ($300) includes four weeks of theatre courses taught by trained professionals and participation in THE WIZ!. Limited sponsorships available.

YASC is BRTKC’s biggest fundraiser of the year! The live performance of THE WIZ! doubles as our annual Gala. We can’t wait to see you on Opening Night. Check this page soon to be among the first back to the theatre when tickets go on sale.
YASC began in 2019 with our hit production SARAFINA! That year, 10 lucky students got their opportunity to shine onstage in front of an admiring crowd. But this year, we’re going bigger and we need your help! Sponsor a student by covering part or all of their tuition cost via PayPal or check. You’ll receive program and onstage recognition, as well as a personalized thank you letter from the student. Open a door once and change a life forever.
Of course, this year will look a little different in light of the ongoing pandemic. Our top priority at BRTKC is keeping our artists, staff, and patrons safe and we need your help to do just that. We have implemented strict safety procedures which will be in use during all summer programming. To read all of our protocols, including mandatory hand-washing and mask-wearing, click below.
Can’t wait to see a BRTKC show? You’re in luck. Tickets are now on sale for our virtual live-streamed production of The Meeting by Jeff Stetson! Tune in May 20-23 to see this fascinating and dramatically compelling play which depicts the supposed meeting of two of the most important men of modern times: Malcolm X and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Differing in their philosophies, but alike in their mutual respect, the two men debate their varying approaches to the same grave social problems, both prepared to die for their beliefs but neither aware of how soon their assassins’ bullets would await them. Featuring a powerhouse cast of Keenan Ramos, Robert Vardiman, and Robert McNichols, Jr.
