IT’S NOT TOO LATE!
Young Actors Summer Conservatory
is now FREE and still enrolling!

The Black Repertory Theatre of Kansas City is proud to announce ongoing open enrollment for our 2021 Young Actors Summer Conservatory. Apply today and you’re in!

During this 3-week intensive, students will engage with professional instructors in Drama, Music, Dance, Stagecraft and African American Theatre history.

This year’s Summer Conservatory will culminate in a production of the musical THE WIZ!  featuring the student acting company.

Enrollment is now COMPLETELY FREE and includes three weeks of theatre courses taught by trained professionals and participation in THE WIZ!. All you have to do for your student to attend is complete the application on our website – no scholarship request required!

Damron, Hunter, and other YASC staff will be on-site at The Gem Theatre at 18th and Vine every day this week from 2-4pm to process in-person sign-ups. If you complete the paperwork online, there’s no need to come in person until instruction officially begins Monday, June 7 at 1:45pm.

ENROLL FOR FREE!
YASC is BRTKC’s biggest fundraiser of the year and tickets are now on sale for just $10! The live performance of THE WIZ! doubles as our annual Gala. We can’t wait to see you on Opening Night, Saturday, June 26 at either the 5:30pm performance or the 7:30pm performance.

YASC began in 2019 with our hit production SARAFINA! That year, 10 lucky students got their opportunity to shine onstage in front of an admiring crowd. But this year, we’re going bigger and we need your help! Sponsor the program with a tax-deductible donation via PayPal or check. You’ll receive program and onstage recognition, as well as a personalized thank you letter from the students.

Of course, this year will look a little different in light of the ongoing pandemic. Our top priority at BRTKC is keeping our artists, staff, and patrons safe and we need your help to do just that. We have implemented strict safety procedures which will be in use during all summer programming. To read all of our protocols, including mandatory hand-washing and mask-wearing, click below.
COVID GUIDELINES
From our friends at Kansas Academy of Theatrical Arts (KATA): We’re kicking off KATA Summer Theater 2021 (get ready for Godspell!) by teaming up with KCK native and Schlagle High School alum Angela Wildflower (now an NYC celeb, heLLO!). On Friday, June 4th at 4:30pm, Angela hosts The Broadway Block Party, featuring TV/Broadway Star, Telly Leung! Want to learn more? Come to the Broadway Block Party? Be in the Godspell cast?
