“The Sin-sational Mae West, a play with music and classic video clips, will be presented at the 2019 KC Fringe Festival on July 20, 21, 23, 26 and 27 at The Arts Asylum 1000 East 9th Street, Kansas City, MO. Show times and tickets can be found at www.kcfringe.org. All tickets for all performances are $10 general admission, on a first come basis.
The show was conceived, written and produced by Kansas City actress Kristine Norvaishas, who has spent years researching Mae West’s career and performing as Miss West in one-woman shows. She is thrilled to be bringing the show to life onstage in this premiere production of the show, which is being directed by Therese Riley.
The show explores the prolific career of West from vaudeville to Broadway and Hollywood, and includes appearances by the likes of Cary Grant (who she also discovered!) and W.C. Fields and a troupe of multi-talented performers. The experience is enhanced by video and musical numbers of the eras, truly highlighting the extensive career of this remarkable woman who refused to conform to society’s norms, prejudices and hang-ups of what and who was acceptable.
